While the reality of daily chemical exposure cannot be denied, regular consumption of tulsi not only helps protect and detoxify the cells and organs in the body, but tulsi can help reduce toxic stress by relaxing and calming the mind and offering many psychological benefits. There are good reasons as to why tulsi has been affectionately called “The Elixir of Life.” (I selected the Rama variety, which has a more mellow flavor.) Pomegranates provide an abundance of antioxidants to nourish and heal cellular damage. Choosing this hand-crafted brew has the potential to nourish growth to perfect health and promotes a long life (see below). I chose this flavor for the nutritional and medicinal possibilities.

Pomegranates

  • have three times more antioxidants than green tea or red wine (due to the potent antioxidant punicalagin)
  • rich in flavonoids which prevent free radicals from damaging your cells
  • show potential in preventing prostate, breast, lung, and colon cancers (destroys and inhibits the reproduction of cancerous cells)
  • powerful anti-inflammatory that relieves chronic inflammation, including joint pain and arthritis
  • helpful for mouth infections and inflammation, like gingivitis
  • rich in dietary nitrates, which have been shown to improve exercise performance and benefit physical performance

Tulsi (Rama Holy Basil)

  • treasured herb in Ayurvedic medicine for its powerful and diverse therapeutic properties
  • called “The Elixir of LIfe” and has been revered as one of India’s most powerful and sacred plants for over 3000 years (tulsi literally means “the incomparable one”)
  • classified in Ayurvedic medicine as a rayasana, an herb that nourishes a person’s growth to perfect health and promotes long life
  • as an adaptogen, helps us become more emotionally and physically resilient in the face of life’s challenges (including the stresses of modern living)
  • optimizes resilience in physically demanding situations, both at a macro (muscular) and cellular (immune system) level
  • reduces feelings of fatigue when used regularly during a stressful period
  • has mood lifting properties
  • promotes vibrant health and wellbeing
  • has positive effects on memory and cognitive function
  • strengthens and modulates the immune system
  • supports a relaxed, balanced state for mind and body
  • eases discomfort and optimizes our inflammatory response responsible for inflammation and pain
  • contains compounds that help protect collagen (gives skin structure) and elastin (gives skin elasticity), which has a positive impact on skin integrity and elasticity
  • calming depth, yet energizing (creates a sense of peace and calms overstimulation)
  • calms cortisol production, which frees up our bodies to make other essential hormones needed for optimal function
  • relieves symptoms of stagnant digestion, such as bloating, gas, heartburn, and nausea
  • classified as an expectorant (supports the body in loosening mucus so that it can be cleared out)
  • has a positive impact on the oral microbiome
  • treats seasonal allergies
  • has several powerful antioxidants which fight free radicals that cause oxidative stress (which lead to accelerating aging and several disease processes throughout the body)
  • may help balance blood pressure and supports balanced blood sugar levels
